Anantara Maldives Resorts has joined Ministry of Gender and Family to introduce a special internship program for children under State care at children’s shelter.

Anantara’s corporate social responsibility project “Minor Hope” was inaugurated in a function held at the resort earlier this year by First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim.

The one-year “Minor Hope” internship program is directed at providing children under State care with the necessary skills to venture into the job market, as well as providing them with job opportunities in the tourism industry.
Two children above the ages of 18 years have been offered placement in the program this year.

During the inauguration, Minister of Gender and Family, Aminath Zenysha Shaheed Zaki noted the importance of ensuring children under State care are nurtured to become productive citizens of the country, and thanked Anantara Maldives for providing the internship opportunity.

Minister Zenysha also expressed hope similar opportunities to nurture the talents and capabilities of children under State care will be provided by other resorts and organizations.

The agreement between Anantara Maldives and Ministry of Gender and Family for the “Minor Hope” internship program was signed in January.

During the signing, General Manager of Anantara Maldives, Coetzer Deysel said the company wished to provide the opportunity for children under State care to become productive citizens of the community.

Deysel said interns will get to experience working in four departments of the resort before they are given to the opportunity to specialize in their field of interest.
