Platinum Certification for Kep province’s Knai Bang Chatt Hotel as a continued benchmark for sustainability in Cambodia’s tourism industry. KEP, February 14th 2021 –  Green Growth 2050, a GSTC ( Global Sustainable Tourism council) recognised standard this week completed their fourth annual audit which resulted in Knai Bang Chatt rising to the highest level attainable under the standard, with an overall compliance level in excess of 90%, Knai Bang Chatt are now for two years in a row certified Platinum.

Wow, that’s quite a job title – can you sum it up in a few sentences?

I work with Green Growth 2050 (our independent auditor) to ensure that all our hotel operations are operating as sustainably as possible in their respective regions and are up to date on the latest thoughts and developments in reducing energy, water, waste, developing communities etc., and are looking at ways to implement them; as well as, ideally, developing new ideas to share with the world.

Vietnam turns GOLD and AVANI too!

Green Growth 2050 has recently certified all four Minor Hotels in Vietnam to its Global Standard.  These represent the first properties to be Certified in Vietnam and the first AVANI Hotel to be Certified worldwide; AVANI Hai Phong. Each Hotel achieved greater than 80% compliance reaching GOLD Certification status.

Anantara Offers Internship to Children under State Care

Anantara Maldives Resorts has joined Ministry of Gender and Family to introduce a special internship program for children under State care at children’s shelter.

Anantara’s corporate social responsibility project “Minor Hope” was inaugurated in a function held at the resort earlier this year by First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim.

The one-year “Minor Hope” internship program is directed at providing children under State care with the necessary skills to venture into the job market, as well as providing them with job opportunities in the tourism industry.

Minor Hotels off to a great start in 2017

The first quarter of 2017, the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development, has seen a number of Minor Hotels re-certify to the Green Growth 2050 Global Standard with all improving on their previous audit scores.

Thailand’s Business Leaders pledge to protect Elephants

On Thai Elephant Day, WildAid united 15 prominent Thai business leaders with a pledge to never use elephant ivory or other wildlife products. In a show of solidarity, the nation’s top business leaders joined our call and urged stronger enforcement and more effective wildlife conservation action.

Thailand is a major destination market and trans-shipment hub to China and other markets for ivory products primarily from some of the roughly 33,000 elephants poached annually in Africa. To help raise awareness on this issue WildAid enlisted the help of Mr. William Ellwood Heinecke, Chairman and CEO, Minor International Public Company Limited, to spearhead the effort by asking fellow business leaders to join the pledge and stand united against the illegal ivory trade.
