Minor Hotels off to a great start in 2017

The first quarter of 2017, the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development, has seen a number of Minor Hotels re-certify to the Green Growth 2050 Global Standard with all improving on their previous audit scores.
AVANI Hotels also joined the program and are working on achieving compliance during 2017.

Thailand’s Business Leaders pledge to protect Elephants

On Thai Elephant Day, WildAid united 15 prominent Thai business leaders with a pledge to never use elephant ivory or other wildlife products. In a show of solidarity, the nation’s top business leaders joined our call and urged stronger enforcement and more effective wildlife conservation action.

Thailand is a major destination market and trans-shipment hub to China and other markets for ivory products primarily from some of the roughly 33,000 elephants poached annually in Africa. To help raise awareness on this issue WildAid enlisted the help of Mr. William Ellwood Heinecke, Chairman and CEO, Minor International Public Company Limited, to spearhead the effort by asking fellow business leaders to join the pledge and stand united against the illegal ivory trade.

Warmth Sharing CSR Project – Ban Huay Sai Kaw Highlander Community Education Centre

Following the passing of Thailand’s Beloved King, the staff at Anantara Chiang Mai Resort decided to forgo their annual Staff Party celebration and instead celebrate the gift of giving.

In a remote forest of northern Thailand, 127km from Chiang Mai, the staff found a dilapidated school that had been deserted since the school teacher passed away a few months earlier.

As the school is not funded by the Ministry of Education, on 21st and 22nd December 2016, the staff took on the project of renovating the classroom and toilet, and also landscaping the grounds.

All Anantara Abu Dhabi properties Certified Gold

Minor Hotel Group’s five Anantara Resorts in Abu Dhabi, UAE were recently Certified GOLD to the Green Growth 2050 Global Standard.
Anantara Eastern Mangroves, Qasr Al Sarab and the three Desert Island Resorts all achieved greater than 80% during their recent audits.

The Maldives turns GOLD!

Green Growth 2050 has recently certified all four Anantara hotels in the Maldives to its Global Standard.  Each Hotel achieved greater than 80% compliance reaching GOLD Certification status.

Minor Hotel Group Cements Green Credentials by Implementing Green Growth 2050 Standards

Minor Hotel Group (MHG) has moved to cement itself as one of the global leaders in sustainable tourism by implementing the Green Growth 2050 (GG2050) sustainability solution.

MHG has committed its 35 resorts and hotels under the Anantara brand to the Green Growth 2050 program, launched in 2015, with many already undergoing certification. A further 35 hotels under different MHG brands are currently implementing the Performance Measurement solution planned for live operation later in 2016.

“In identifying a sustainability partner for the Hotel Group, Minor was looking for a solution that could take our hotels to the next level.  A program with the potential to operate across our entire portfolio”, said John Roberts, MHG Director of Conservation Efforts.

Minor Hotel Group to implement Global Performance Measurement initiative

Minor Hotel Group is currently implementing Green Growth 2050’s advance Performance Measurement suite in preparation for going live during February 2016.  The implementation involves 75 hotels across 6 major brands across 18 countries.

This will enable Minor Hotels to measure its sustainability performance across a range of key performance metrics. Once collected, they can then use inbuilt business intelligence and analytics to view the performance of the overall organisation. Information can be analysed by individual business, region, brand or across the entire tourism enterprise.
