Warmth Sharing CSR Project – Ban Huay Sai Kaw Highlander Community Education Centre
Following the passing of Thailand’s Beloved King, the staff at Anantara Chiang Mai Resort decided to forgo their annual Staff Party celebration and instead celebrate the gift of giving.
In a remote forest of northern Thailand, 127km from Chiang Mai, the staff found a dilapidated school that had been deserted since the school teacher passed away a few months earlier.
As the school is not funded by the Ministry of Education, on 21st and 22nd December 2016, the staff took on the project of renovating the classroom and toilet, and also landscaping the grounds.
The finished result is a place where the village children can once again play and learn. But this was just the beginning; on 15 January 2017 the team expanded the CSR project by installing clean water, a solar panel, shelves stocked with books, teacher accommodation and kitchen unit.
The staff also arranged for each student to receive a dental checkup and dental care education program. These participating Dentists travelled from Bangkok to assist.
During May and on Minor Founders’s Day, the Anantara Chiang Mai staff will renovate the village’s Praying Sala.
